Are you planning to start out on your new trading equipment company or have receive letter asking you to provide Safety Mark on your equipment?
How do SAFETY MARK Product works?
In Singapore, safety marks are issued by two regulatory agencies: the Enterprise Singapore (ESG) and the Safety Authority (Spring Singapore). These agencies are responsible for setting safety standards and testing products to ensure that they meet those standards. Products that pass the safety tests are granted a safety mark, which indicates that they are safe for use by consumers.
The safety mark is an important indicator for consumers because it provides them with the assurance that the product has been tested and meets safety standards. It is also important for manufacturers because it demonstrates that their products are safe and can be sold in Singapore without fear of legal action.
Why Choose SAFETY MARK Products?
Insurance Dispute: In the event of an electrical fire (due to failure of lighting products), INSURANCE MAY NOT COVER when there is usage of non-certified electrical fixtures. This is especially so for concealed lightings.
Safeguard your homes: Electrical products with no safety mark are potential fire hazards! Products that require such certifications in Singapore are considered CONTROLLED GOODS. The reason for such strict standards is to safeguard interests of consumers.
Safety Requirement by SPRING SINGAPORE: Sellers are required to obtain safety mark for relevant products before putting up for sale. Therefore since 1991, these safety requirements is being rolled out to all manufacturer and distributor of controlled item electronics.
The Singapore Consumer Protection (Safety Requirements) Registration Scheme or CPS Scheme is administered by Enterprise Singapore, the designated Safety Authority since 1991 by Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) under the Consumer Protection (Safety Requirements) Regulations.
The Consumer Protection (Safety Requirements) Regulations (CPSR) requires 33 categories of household products, also known as Controlled Goods, to be registered with Enterprise Singapore. These products need to be tested to specified safety standards, approved by designated third party conformity assessment Body (CAB) and affixed with the SAFETY Mark before they can be sold in Singapore.
The detailed information of these controlled goods are available in the Consumer Protection (Safety Requirements) Registration Scheme Information Booklet Edition issued by the Safety Authority and is obtainable from the website below:
